Final Workshop of the Safeway project (3rd February 2022): Professor Jose M. Adam participated in a Special Session on Excellent Science contributing to more resilient critical assets in the Final Workshop of the SAFEWAY project.
Workshop of the FAILNOMORE project “Mitigation of the risk of progressive collapse in steel and composite building frames under exceptional events” (19 May 2022): Professor Jose M. Adam gave a talk on designing for robustness. Dr. Nirvan Makoond gave a talk on design strategies for unidentified threats.
The eighth International Conference on Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Computation in Cape Town, SEMC 2022 (5-7 September 2022): Nirvan Makoond and Professor Jose M. Adam contributed to SEMC 2022 with a presentation and an invited lecture during a session focused on progressive collapse and design for robustness. The invited lecture concerned research in the field of structural robustness though large-scale testing.
Congress on Numerical Methods in Engineering (CMN 2022) held in Las Palmas de Gran Canarias (14-16 September 2022): Manuel Buitrago and Marina Oliver attended CMN 2022 with a presentation on the use of structural fuses to prevent failure propagation in shoring/propping systems.
Second Workshop FIDiT in the field of Construction Engineering, Training, R+D+i and Transfer, (14 February 2023): Giacomo Caredda participated in FIDiT with a presentation on risk-based fuse segmentation design of buildings for enhanced robustness and resilience.
SEI/ASCE Structures Congress in New Orleans (3-6 May 2023): Nirvan Makoond gave a presentation on full-scale tests as part of a special session on Precast Concrete and Disproportionate Collapse.
The 6th International Conference on Protective Structures (ICPS6) in Auburn (14-17 May 2023): Nirvan Makoond contributed to ICPS6 with a talk on improving building robustness through fuse-segmentation.
fib Symposium 2023. Building for the future: Durable, Sustainable, Resilient (5-7 June 2023). Dr. Manuel Buitrago and Prof. Jose M. Adam contributed to the conference with two presentations related to the Endure project and the already large-scale test performed for the WP3 of the project, respectively.
CMMoST 2023. 7th International Conference on Mechanical Models in Structural Engineering (29-30 Nov, 1 Dic 2023): Lorenzo Marin and Jose M. Adam contributed to the conference with two presentations related to the Endure project: “A simplified approach for modelling failure propagation of steel structures” and “Natural fuse-segmentation to arrest failure propagation in precast concrete buildings”.
REHABEND 2024. 10th Euro-American Congress on Construction Pathology, Rehabilitation Technology and Heritage Management (5-9 May 2024): Diego Cetina gave a presentation entitled “Modelling strategy for evaluating failure propagation in reinforced concrete structures” and Nirvan Makoond gave a presentation entitled “Arresting failure propagation in precast concrete buildings”, both related to the Endure project.
XI Doctoral Students Meeting (30 May): Maria Luz Gerbaudo gave an oral presentation on her thesis project entitled “Evitar la propagación de fallos en edificios”. She received the Audience’s Prize for the best oral presentation, which was awarded by the Doctoral School of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).
Cinpar 2024. XX International Conference on Building Pathology and Constructions Repair (29-31 May 2024): Jose M. Adam contributed to the conference with a keynote speech entitled “Full-scale experimental testing to achieve robust structures”, in which he showed the large-scale tests performed for the Endure project.
19th Structural Faults & Repair Conference-2024 (11-13 Jun 2024): Jose M. Adam contributed to the conference with a keynote lecture about isolating failure to avoid building catastrophic collapses.
Joint 3D GeoInfo Conference and EG-ICE workshop 2024 (1-5 July 2024): Jose M. Adam participated in the conference with a keynote speech on the achievements of the Endure project, focused this time on advanced computational modelling
ICEFA X. Tenth International Conference on Engineering Failure Analysis (7-10 July 2024): Jose M. Adam attend the conference with a keynote speech entitled “Avoiding catastrophic collapses of buildings and bridges”.
HAKI (Himpunan Ahli Konstruksi Indonesia) annual conference (20-21 August 2024): Andri Setiawan was one of the invited speakers to the conference and he presented the overview and recent progress of the Endure project. He also gave another presentation on the partial collapse test of a precast building specimen. In addition, he also visited four universities, including Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Tarumanagara, and Universitas Trisakti, to present our research activities. Lastly, Andri also organised a knowledge-sharing session in PT PP (Persero) Tbk, where he presented Endure’s findings.
15th fib PhD Symposium 2024 (28-30 August 2024): Maria Luz Gerbaudo and Giacomo Caredda participated in the conference with two presentations related to the Endure project, entitled “Structural fuse-based segmentation for limiting disproportionate building collapse: design requirements” and “A risk-based framework for enhancing the robustness of framed building structures through segmentation”.
ICCS 2024. fib International Conference on Concrete Sustainability (11-13 September 2024): Lorenzo Marin presented the work carried out in the Endure project and the PhD team won the fib Young Members Group (YMG) Competition 2024 for their entry “Fuse-based segmentation: a novel design approach to improve structural robustness of concrete building structures”.
ICES 2024. 1st International Conference on Engineering Structures (8-11 November 2024): Jose M. Adam and Nirvan Makoond attended the conference. Nirvan Makoond gave a presentation on the effectiveness of fuse-based segmentation for enhancing the structural robustness of buildings. Jose M. Adam gave a Keynote Lecture on the last line of defence against catastrophic building collapses, and also took part in a Face to Face session with Editors.
