New researchers for Enhance team

Four new researchers have joined Building Resilient to complete the Enhance team: Lisbel Rueda, Brais Barros, Marcos Arias and Juan Sebastián Fontalvo. They will work on the retrofitting of existing buildings to ensure they comply with the latest structural robustness requirements.

Lisbel Rueda is a Civil Engineer and holds a PhD in Construction Engineering from UPV. She joins the team as a postdoctoral researcher. Lisbel has previous experience in experimental testing, monitoring, shear design and mechanical models of concrete structures. Her contribution to the team will be related to computational modelling, concrete structures and robustness.

Brais Barros is an Industrial Engineer and holds a PhD from Universidad de Vigo. He joins the team as a doctoral researcher. Brais has previous experience in structural health monitoring, model updating and damage prediction. His contribution to the team will be related to computational modelling, steel structures and artificial intelligence.

Marcos Arias holds a Civil Engineering degree from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba – Argentina. He joins the team as a pre-doctoral researcher in Construction Engineering. Marcos has previous experience in design and experimental testing of concrete structures. He will focus on the retrofitting of existing buildings, artificial intelligence and the experimental campaign for the Enhance project.

Juan Sebastián Fontalvo holds a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana – Colombia. He joins to the team as a pre-doctoral researcher in Construction Engineering. Juan Sebastián has previous experience as a professor at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana where he has taught several courses in the section of structures such as statics, strength of materials and structural analysis. He has also worked in structural reinforcement in hospitals. He will focus on the retrofitting of existing buildings and the designs, construction details, and tests to develop the Enhance project.

We look forward to sharing many successful achievements with them.
