Launch of new Pont3 project

We have already started work on our new Pont3 project, entitled “Anticipating failure propagation of ageing bridges through a cost-effective interdisciplinary approach”. The aim of the project is to anticipate failure propagation of ageing bridges.

The project involves the participation of three universities: Universitat Politècnica de València, Universidad de Vigo, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and the research groups: Building Resilient – ICITECH, ATEM, GeoTech – Applied Geotechnologies Research Group.

The Principal Investigators of the project are: Carlos Lázaro, Jose Adam, Luca Pelà, Rolando Chacón and Belen Riveiro.
The project has been funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation with a total budget of more than €400,000 and will last for 3 years.

With our new Pont3 project we are going to improve the safety of bridges by avoiding the propagation of local failures. In the experimental phase, we will build two bridges in the ICITECH and ATEM laboratories. In addition, we will also work on three real bridges located in Alicante, Ourense and Barcelona.
