Inspiring Curiosity and Resilience: A Month Full of Science and Discovery

🔬 On May 9, 2025, the Fira dels Invents 2025 was held at the “Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias” in Valencia, offering a full day of innovation, creativity, and learning for visitors of all ages. Organized by the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), the event showcased exciting science communication activities—including our popular workshop: “What Do Buildings and Lizards Have in Common?”

🏨🦎 At our stand, organized by the Building Resilient – ICITECH team, children and adults explored how structures can be designed to better withstand extreme events like earthquakes. Through interactive hands-on activities, visitors learned how lizards inspire the development of more adaptable, resilient buildings—bridging the worlds of nature and structural engineering.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 The experience offered participants a playful and educational look into the science behind structural resilience, highlighting how engineering can help protect lives and improve our built environment.

🧠 On Saturday, May 24, we also had the pleasure of participating in the “Reach Your Potential” event organized by Asociación AVAST, hosted at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).

🏢 Our workshop, “Creating the Lizard Building,” invited children to explore the basics of structural engineering through play, design, and observation. The activity encouraged them to think creatively about how buildings can be made stronger and safer, while making the world of engineering accessible and fun.

🎯 From hands-on experiments to problem-solving challenges, it was an inspiring and rewarding experience—full of learning, curiosity, and imagination.
