Participation of the group in several international congresses

The summer season has been a busy one for the Building Resilient team, with presentations of our research in several international conferences.

José Adam and Juan José Moragues participated in the Structural Faults and Repair & European Bridge Conference 2022 held in Edinburgh (https://www.structuralfaultsandrepair.com/), with a lecture on the robustness assessment of steel truss bridges.

Manuel Buitrago gave two different talks at the VIII Congreso Internacional de la Asociación Española de Ingeniería Estructural (ACHE) held in Santander (https://congresoache.com/). One on limiting the load in shores for improved efficiency and safety of buildings during their construction, and another on the robustness of concrete flat slab buildings.

Nirvan Makoond and José Adam contributed to SEMC 2022: The eighth International Conference on Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Computation in Cape Town (http://www.semc.uct.ac.za/), with an invited lecture on research in the field of structural robustness though large-scale testing and a presentation on the progressive collapse of precast reinforced concrete structures.

Manuel Buitrago and Marina Oliver attended the Congress on Numerical Methods in Engineering (CMN 2022) held in Las Palmas de Gran Canarias (https://congress.cimne.com/cmn2022/frontal/default.asp), with a presentation on the use of structural fuses to prevent failure propagation in shoring/propping systems, and another on studying the robustness of precast concrete structures using the Applied Element Method.

Finally, José Adam participated in REHABEND 2022, the Euro-American Congress on Construction Pathology, Rehabilitation Technology and Heritage Management held in Granada (https://www.rehabend.unican.es/2022/), with a plenary lecture on the progressive collapse and robustness of buildings and bridges.
