Second test on the full-scale building structure: Influence of infill masonry walls

Within the framework of the Beca Leonardo, funded by the BBVA Foundation, we have successfully completed tests on a full-scale building subjected to the sudden removal of a corner column in two different scenarios.

The second test involved masonry infill walls in the nearest zone to the removed column. The results were satisfactory and demonstrated the importance of the contribution of these walls after the sudden loss of a corner column.

The second test was witnessed by more than 50 persons, including representatives of the Spanish Ministry of Public Works, The Valencia Regional Government, the AlbericTown Council, plus a number of researchers and construction professionals. The event was also covered by the press, radio and television.

We are grateful to the BBVA Foundation and LIC for the assistance provided to carry out this successful project.
